“We will persist.”
With election results in, Donald Trump is returning to the White House after a decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024. Trump supporters celebrated the moment as “a movement like nobody’s ever seen before,” with chants of “Trump, Trump, all day, we won!”
Hollywood, however, had mixed reactions. Christina Applegate didn’t hold back on social media, posting on X, “Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights and disability rights. What you did is unreal.” Oscar winner and mother to a trans daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis, shared her concerns on Instagram, saying, “We’re all real people, and we live in a world that is at war. Trump’s win signals a return to a more restrictive, some fear draconian, time. Gay and trans people will feel more afraid.” She added, “For all those people, there will be those who will help you, me included.”
Commenting on Trump’s controversial history, actress Aubrey Plaza remarked, “The only thing America hates more than a sexist, racist, rapist is a woman.” Lily Reinhart also spoke out for Trump’s alleged victims, saying, “My heart absolutely breaks for these women. I believe you, and I am so sorry.”
In the meantime, Trump supporters like Amber Rose and Savannah Chrisley posted their celebrations from overnight watch parties, sharing “victory vibes.”
“We will persist; we will move forward.”
As reactions continued, notable figures like Jonathan Van Ness, Andy Cohen, and Real Housewives alum Bethenny Frankel spoke out about the importance of unity amid the emotional divide. Frankel shared, “The decision has been made, the die has been cast, and people have to move forward. Divisiveness hasn’t worked; we all have to agree on that.” She added, “We’re going to keep showing up, keep working together. We’re going to be okay.”
